If you from a non-EU country ( USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc ) you are likely to need an IDP ( International Drivers Permit ) in addition to your driving license, to drive in Spain.

This extra document is normally obtained in your home country before travelling ( although you can in some cases apply online ).

Although no longer a member of the EU, the UK is a signatory on the Vienna Convention List so an IDP is not currently required. There is a grey area however if the UK driving licence is an old type that does not carry a photo of the holder i.e. old paper type licenses.

You are therefore likely to need an IDP to drive in Spain if you have:

A paper driving licence
A licence issued in Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man
A licence issued in a non-EU country

You could potentially face punishment if stopped by law enforcement officials while driving without an IDP permit.

Payment for your vehicle can be made either by cash, credit or debit card on your arrival in Mallorca. No advance deposit is needed or required, unless your flight arrival time is after 20:00 and you are using our out of hours collection service.

Whenever it is possible we advise that you park your car / vehicle rental in a parking place that is well lit and visible.

We strongly advise you against leaving your personal belongings inside your vehicle. Where for whatever reason this cannot be avoided your possessions should be moved completely out of sight i.e. in the boot.

Please take good care of your key so that it does not get wet, damaged, or lost.

With our fair fuel policy, simply return your hire car with the same amount of fuel as when you initially collected it. There are no prepaid fuel costs or hidden refuelling fees.

If you collect your hire car between the hours of 20:00 and 08:00 using the after-hours unattended process, Palma de Mallorca Airport will charge you for their Secure Parking, as your vehicle awaits your final time of arrival on the Island.

Please note that when using this vehicle collection method you will also be required to pay in advance of your arrival in Mallorca for your car hire. In this scenario a payment link will be sent to you to allow payment using a range of online payment methods. Alternatively payment for your rental car can also be made by bank transfer.

We do our best to place your vehicle in the Airport Car Park as late as possible ( subject to vehicle scheduling on any given day ). However the absolute maximum the parking fee will ever be ( payable to the Airport when you collect your vehicle ) is currently around 28.00€. This amount is actually considerably less than other companies charge to meet their clients “ out of hours “.

Further instructions on how and where to locate your vehicle will be sent to you on the day, AFTER your vehicle has been placed in the Airport Car Park to await your arrival in Mallorca.
